Maxi-mum Comfy and Potential.

" Hey Justin, first let me say that I read your blog all of the time, you are a amazing writer and your commentary is so funny. I have a question though. The other day I bought a black plain maxi dress and i don't know what to do with it. i don;t want to just put it on and then it seems boring on me. Can you help me?"

Thanks girl! Well first let me tell everyone that a Maxi dress is this.

A Maxi dress is a dress that hits your ankles. It is supposed to flow and drape your body. Typically they are worn in the summer, but with the proper layering you can wear them in the winter/fall as well. Click on for my answer and some tips for layering.

Look #1

You can definitely do it with a Faux fur vest (which is SO in this season). When doing the shoe, try the wool sock with strappy sandal look. YES you have to wear heels to raise your sillouhoutte so your dress doesn't drag. The wool will mix fall/winter fabrics and keep your legs warm as will the Fur vest. When doing accessories go for something such as a ONE or TWO bangles or a tennis bracelet. Same applies with your neck.

Look #2

Now, you can do a jacket over it. I suggest leather, because it adds that WOW effect to the outfit. This jacket has a shearling (fur on the collar and lapel) finish and recommended for the Winter/Fall season. An over the knee boot is also nice with a Maxi dress because it creates an illusion that your whole leg is leather, which is also edgy. For the purse, I suggest an oversized bag. Like an carry-all. This one is Louie but feel free to play with the colors. For the head I suggest a turban. Just put it on, wrap it, and tie it. Play around with tying it.

Look #3

This is my Roxy look. A oversized cardigan put over it chunky or thin, with a chunky knit scarf (don't put same color as the cardigan our dress, let it stand out). For accessories put on large earrings which always spice an outfit up. Lastly, wear MOTORCYCLE boots. YES, break the ladylike rules and put them on. It's a small heel and they are uber chic on a feminine dress.

So there you go. A breakdown on your dress you want to wear. Again thank you for your interest in my blog and opinion! You keep me motivated. If you guys have any questions let me know at Vintagecardigans@gmail.com
