Isabella Blow.

When you're talking about Fashion innovators, Isabella Blow's name should come up. Whether it be negative gossip or just praise.

Who is Isabella Blow? Click to find out.

Ironically, I gave you guys a picture with McQueen, who eventually became a reason of her suicide. Or did he? Just keep reading to see what I'm talking about..

Isabella Blow was an British Fashion editor who was known for her head turning looks (think GAGA) and her use of oversized hats. She never left the house without an hat, and her red lipstick. MAC made an lipstick dedicated to her. She was most famously known for being the first actual customer and promoter of the late Alexander McQueen (hence the picture). Isabella on the outside looked very normal. But inside she was a very chilly person.

She started her fashion career first as being Anna Wintours (Editor of Vogue) assistant, but then went on to work for Andre` Leon Talley (Editor-In-Chief of Vogue). That's an extremely great way to start off work in the Fashion industry. Bella would go to Fashion week, go to designer showrooms, go to Paris. She did it all. She then returned to London and started working in the Fashion publications field. Phillip Treacy who at the time was an hat designer, made Isabellas big hat for her wedding. When she discovered his talent, she moved him to her flat where he started to design hats. Bella started to wear his hats and everyone would inquire about where she got it from. Thus the start of his career thanks to her.

Once Isabella discovered Alexander McQueen, she bought his entire start up collection for 5000 euro, which she paid in installments. Now, you would think that McQueen would be very genrous with her. But once he got an job at Givenchy, he left Isabella. At least this is what people thought. Everyone threw Alexander under the bus based on what they seen. According to an book entitled Isabella Blow - A Life in Fashion  McQueen was actually a part of her suicide, but that's because she took it the wrong way. In an interview with the The New York Times he said “She [Isabella] would say that fashion killed her, but she also allowed that to happen in a lot of ways. She got herself some good jobs and she let some of them go. You could sit Isabella down and tell her what she should do with her life. But she would never understand that all it came down to [was] ‘You just are, Isabella. And that is your commodity.’”
So he wasn't really throwing her to the side, he just knew if he would've gave her a job, would she have appreciated it?

Ironically, McQueen actually commited suicide himself in Feburary of 2010.Isabella was clearly one of the reasons why, seeing how she herself commited suicide in 2007. He went to the funeral and took it the worst. He was extremely saddened by the news, and dedicated two of his collections to her. Isabella and McQueen were both very depressed people. People blame it on the fashion industry. This industry will eat you up if you don't have the right mentality.

But that's me getting off track. Anyway, when Isabella commited suicide, it wasn't her first attempt. She first started to become depressed when Mcqueens label was purchased by the Gucci Group and he 'threw her to the side'. She went to say that everybody else got contracts, and she got a free dress. She was so distraught over this because she actually was the one that set the whole meeting up. SO, did McQueen throw her to the side? Did he let the fame consume him?

Well, she was torn up because she needed the money. She was going broke after her father disinherited her in 1994 and she needed money. Add to the fact that her husband left her and reportedly got with another woman to have a son, because Bella was infertile. They tried everything and nothing worked. And the snowball keeps rolling..

Soon after this, she was diagnosed with Bipolar disorder, and soon Ovarian cancer. That was when the attempts started. She rammed her car into the back of a truck, and jumped off of an elevated roadway, which resulted in her breaking both of her ankles. She tried to obtain Horse tranquilizers, and she even OD'd on pills. Well, On May 6, 2007, during a weekend house party at Hilles, where the guests included Treacy and his life partner, Stefan Bartlett, Blow announced that she was going shopping. Instead, she was later discovered collapsed on a bathroom floor by her sister Lavinia and was taken to Gloucestershire Royal Hospital, where Blow told the doctor she had drunk the weedkiller Paraquat. Blow died at the hospital the following day.

Anna Wintour, among other fashion mavens came to her funeral. It was a very sad day.

Isabella Blow was an iconic person in the fashion industry. Her passion for fashion was very original and it showed with her actions and her actions. She will be forever missed <3
